Outline of PRACTICE1

Our target is to construct an international network for information gathering and a cooperation system against the cyber attack (malware's infection activity, DDoS attack and so on). In addition, we aim at reducing the risk of cyber attack on Japan by developing and studying countermeasures in cooperation with some internet service providers and academic institutes. Technical Subjects:

Based on the various observed data or stataistics collected inside or outside Japan, we carry on technical research and development to analyze the similarity, the locality and the time series properties of data and statistics observed at each observation point.

Target Plan:

First year, we aim at developing some alogorithms to analyze the similarity, the locality and times series properties with numerical simulation because the real sensor data are not collected yet.
On and after the second year, we apply the above algorithms to the real data observed at each sensor. Then, we construct an appropriate evaluation criterion for practical use an d evaluate the performance of those algorithms. We also aim at efficiently visualizing the analytical results of the algorithms.
Finally, we aim at implementing the algorithms which complete these analyses about the cyber attack information in thirty minutes within the attack. (quoted from the master plan)

1. Our project is a part of PRACTICE (Proactive Response Against Cyber-attacks Through International Collaborative Exchange) which is a contract research by Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications.
